MACT produced an entire evening of my one act plays, so I’m giving each play a gallery of it’s own. They looked really good, and I was sorry that I couldn’t get out that way to see them performed.
The Red Balloon pokes fun at modern theatre, exaggerating the evolution of a workshopped piece from a dull narrative to a ludicrous piece of nonsense. I like to think there are some good bits along the way, as well as the inevitable comedy. It’s popular as a one act play because it requires little in the way of set, is written for three people and is about theatre. There are also plenty of opportunities for overacting.
