Work in Progress was the first play I ever wrote, and surprisingly ambitious for all that. MACT chose it to be one of the three plays they performed in an evening of my one act plays. It’s about an author who is struggling to complete his detective novel, which he has written in proper noir style. The trouble is, the characters are so real to him that they are able to complain about his plans for them. Eventually they bring him around to their way of thinking and the novel changes fundamentally.
